Happy Father's Day

I don't know whether you still check this. But...

Happy Father's Day.

Hanging in the lobby of a hotel in Paris.

I'm wondering how far I've walked in the past few days. I keep discovering more bits and pieces in the Art Nouveau labyrinth.

I found the Parisienne version of a show that I knew from Camden, managed by a woman from the incarnation located in Birmingham. I could have been in the Camden store. If language is a virus than Branding is the cloning of complex organisms.

So much more to say, but I don't have time to ramble.

Passports

After a few weeks of telling people that I have two passports in theory, I got my new Australian Passport delivered the other day.

Yay! That's me good for another ten years.

Coinage

Working on the Rainy Day principle, I religiously save the smallest three coins in British circulation, throwing one penny, two penny and five penny pieces into jars at the end of the day (I try to keep a stack of 1 pound and 20p coins, but that's for the machines at the laundromat).

The other night I counted up all of the shrapnell, and discovered that I have enough coinage to buy a simple coin-counter.

But then I wouldn't have any coins.

Jesus, I haven't posted in this for quite a while.

No huge infodump coming here.

Just wanted to post to mention that last night I was in the Centre of London to buy a Parka from H&M, which turned out to be rather fortuitous because within an hour it started raining, hailing, sleeting and snowing. At the same time.

I guess that is why they are calling it Climate Change instead of Global Warming now.

Over and out.

Update:

The interview went nicely.

Printed my map from the website for the interview venue, took the tube to the nearest station and alighted with 20 minutes to spare, only to realise that neither I nor anyone else in the vicinity could work out how the hell I was supposed to get to my destination. I swear sometimes I think that after taking down all the road signs to confuse the Nazi invasion force in WWII London has never gotten around to putting half of them back up.

Took at taxi the couple of blocks, which only cost about four squid. And then spent the afternoon chatting with various members in between them getting snapped by a photog or doing other interviews. The dudes were so fucking nice it was ridiculous.

All good.

Tomorrow I need to hunker down to stuff that really needs doing, though.

Over and out.

Back from Bloodstock

Just spent three days in a field outside Catton, outside Birmingham, thanks to publicists and others sorting out a press pass.

It's the first time I've had the laminate, so I was walking around with it feeling like that scene in Wayne's World.

Saw some good bands, hung with cool folks (some of whom I met at Wacken) and scribbled notes.

Back to London and all the scheming and scrabbling.

Tomorrow I interview a very young band from Florida that have an album out very soon. (Not the youngest metal band from Florida; not anymore).

Over and out.
